Cameron doesn’t want anything more than to become famous and get millions of followers on YouTube and elsewhere. That’s why on the day when another freak storm breaks out on the lake nearby his home Cameron takes his camera and boat to go out alone to reach his goals and to find out what really is happening out there.

As per usual not everything happens as planned, and during the storm on of the lightning bolts strikes the book’s main character. The best thing and perhaps very revealing about the Cameron, that before he passes out, his thinking about silly he must be looking rather than about his mom or his best friend Juaqou. But soon enough Cameron will find out how dangerous sometimes it can get when you get what you wished for.

Cameron isn’t the only character from whose POV we can read from during A Trick of Light, there’s also a mysterious girl called Nia. Even during the first moments after the reader meets her it’s clear that her upbringing, schooling etc. aren’t the usual.

A Trick of Light more than anything is Cameron’s coming of age story, and in this instance, some modern superpowers and attack to Earth from aliens is added to it!
