Among the Hidden
Among the Hidden takes place in 1998, where the government has made the population law, which bans the birth of a third child in a family. Luke Garner is one of the children born third, and lives his life hidden from everyone else. The story begins when the forest in his backyard is destroyed for housing, trapping him in his bedroom in the windowless attic.
Curious about the houses, Luke spent his time looking at them through the vents. One day, though, after everyone who owned the houses left, he saw something peculiar: a child’s face. Intrigued, he sneaked into the house and met Jen Talbot, another third child. Like Luke, Jen was sick of being hidden and she wanted to do something about it. She organized over one thousand third children to have a rally! What happened? You’ll have to read and find out!
In my opinion, the book was too sad for me. It had many bad things happen to the two children and the entire population law was just cruel. In short, because of the great storytelling but sad tone, I give Among the Hidden two stars.
