Xingyin grew up on the Moon with only her mother and caregiver for company. She was happy there, that is, until her magic got away from her and drew the attention of the emperor, who had banished her mother to the Moon before she was born. Cast out from her home, Xingyin will do whatever it takes to free her mother and return home once more. But it’s never that easy. She must face monsters and challenges she can’t imagine, including friendships that have the potential to grow into more.

First of all, look at that cover; it’s gorgeous! Daughter of the Moon Goddess reads a lot like a fairy tale, albeit in the first person, making it a little odd to get used to. It took a while to get into the story, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait for the next book. The romance is heartbreaking. Even through it’s not the main part of the story, it plays a large role, and if taken out, would affect the plot. Also, the romance, without spoilers, plays out differently than most fantasy story romances do and is a nice change of pace.
