Small towns are noted for their proximity to property and people. Small towns also contain big secrets capable of blowing far and wide. Richard Weatherford is a man of God, preaching to a loyal congregation in rural Arkansas. As Easter approaches, his biggest secret must be contained. He is contacted by Gary. Gary seeks to escape from his humdrum life, and blackmailing Weatherford for seed money seems perfect. Weatherford faces exposure to his flock, desperate for the money, he is capable of anything. Brian, a budding entrepreneur, seeks to open a liquor store, but is facing an uphill climb against the teetotaling moralists of the town. His financial outlook is precarious and approaching bleak. Sarabeth lives at home, subject to the unwelcome passes of her mother’s boyfriend, her relief lay in time with Gary and a good party. She shares Gary’s desire for making a break for the friendlier climate. All four are on a course that might just end in destruction.

Dry County packs a wallop in the inaugural chapter and doesn’t pull punches throughout. The story is relatable, compelling and possesses an emotional intensity that will resonate with the reader well after the words have been consumed. The author has a great future ahead of him with fiction such as this.
