A young child is high on a balcony overlooking a sidewalk. She is in a wheelchair and cannot join anyone below. No one seems to notice her. No one looks up. She watches as people walk by below, one walking a dog, others just passing by, a boy with a kite, children playing hopscotch. They look really small to her, and she can only see the tops of their heads or, on rainy days, just umbrella tops. She calls out to them to look up over and over until finally a young boys does. When he realizes she can’t come down, he lies down on the ground so she can see all of him. A woman joins him and soon there are several people lying on the ground looking up.

Jung Jin-Ho has written and illustrated an absolutely charming picture book. The story is told almost entirely with pictures, using only a total of forty words in the book. Yet it is powerful and will be a great discussion starter for young children to understand how limiting some disabilities can be but also how to include everyone.
