This excellent field guide gives you everything you need to talk about the weather. In one chapter, you’ll learn to identify different cloud types and how they form. Another chapter is all about precipitation. Other chapters target winds, airmasses, the atmosphere, and more. It’s easy to read with a nice format; big blocks of text are broken up by pictures to help you quickly identify the different weather elements––this also gives your eyes a break!

The book is meant to be used outside, in the field, to identify and be able to talk about what weather you are seeing. The pictures are particularly helpful for this; they are great quality images that make it very easy to compare to real life. While it’s very interesting to read even by itself, because you learn so much about how and why weather happens, it really shines when you take it outside with you.

The way the chapters are divided and the extensive index make it easy to find and identify whatever you are interested in. The chapters vary considerably in length, but all are more than adequate to cover their topics. Anyone interested in weather will enjoy using this informative and engaging book.
