Star Wars Myths & Fables
A dragon torments desert dwellers until a mysterious knight intervenes. A single droid tries to prevent a battle that will end in thousands of destroyed droids. An undersea race learns the dangers of pride. A lone hero saves a city multiple times. A young child tries to free her siblings from a hideous slaver. A famous statue has an unexpected origin story. Three pirates try to swindle a witch. Wrath descends upon a city. A scoundrel tries to outwit an intractable foe.
It makes perfect sense for Star Wars to revisit the realm of myths and fables because the original trilogy was born out of classic story tropes. A farm boy becomes a knight, rescues a princess, and topples the forces of evil despite overwhelming odds. Star Wars: Myths & Fables returns the series to its roots, offering evocative titles for characters we know (the Dark Wraith, the Wanderer) and purposely shaping stories to feel as untouched by sci-fi elements as possible, making them feel timeless.
Here, adventures are told like legends, where Jedi are mysterious mythic figures and the brave actions of a young girl can become a lesson for generations to come. It’s beautiful, brilliant storytelling that’s well-executed and heartwarmingly effective.
The fact that some of these stories interweave — as well as reference events from the greater Star Wars universe — is just the icing on the cake.
