The Lost Carousel of Provence

The Lost Carousel of Provence goes back and forth between the present day and the past, from the Belle Epoque and World War II through to modern day France and California. Cady Drake is researching carousels, trying to learn about her antique carousel rabbit, Gus. The search leads her to the Chateau Clement and its owner, Fabrice. The earliest timeline is Maelle’s, which takes place in 1901 France. She’s a young woman who’s interested in becoming a woodcarver and ends up as an apprentice to renowned artisan Gustave Bayol. The middle timeline follows Fabrice Clement, who served as part of the Maquis during World War II. I think he was my favorite. That’s a fascinating era to me. The final timeline is Cady’s, which happens in the present. Each timeline is connected through the carousel. I really enjoyed learning the history behind the carousel and Gus. My earliest training was as an archaeologist, and artifacts of any kind are interesting to me. The language is beautiful, with lovely descriptions of France. This is a highly recommended read!
